Scientific Evidence: within the last four decades, our view of the mature brain has changed significantly. Today it is generally accepted that the adult brain is far from being fixed. A number of factors such as stress, adrenal, hormones, neurotransmitters, growth factors, certain drugs, environmental stimulation, learning, and aging change neuronal structures and functions. The Wellness star encourages positive self-talk through auditory and visual stimulation. This has beenproven to change the structure of the brain. One of the key psychological theories behind positive affirmations is self-affirmation theory (Steele, 1988). So, yes, there are empirical studies based on the idea that we can maintain our sense of self-integrity by telling ourselves I am somebody, I am good enough, I can do anything, I like myself. The processes that affirmations may induce are morphological alterations in brain areas, changes in neuron morphology, network alterations including changes in neuronal connectivity, the generation of new neurons (neurogenesis), and neurobiochemical changes. Repeating the star is like driving a huge tractor back and forth across a football pitch. You Are creating deep groves in your subconscious mind that will remind you to speak kind words.
